If I were to die today, here's what I'm taking to Heaven: Rebecca's Inventory: Part 2

Updated: Mar 31, 2020

Ralph Walton, Pastor of Philadelphia Church

My daddy's name is Ralph Walton. He is the pastor of Philadelphia Church in Houston TX. My whole life he said to me, "You came in this world with nothing, and you are going to leave this world with nothing." I understood clearly that his statement was attached to the thoughts and physical things that come from this world.

With this current blog series, I would like to improve upon my father's sentiment: "You came in this world with nothing, and you are going to leave this world with nothing but, all the bible doctrine you have accumulated and applied in your life."

Now more than ever it is a necessary to look towards what's coming. The processes of the whole world have been disrupted under this pandemic, COVID 19. I'm 38 years old and I have never witnessed a global scale pandemic that has brought the world into uniformity. It's a dark time and yet it is the most amazing time. It's awe-inspiring to see God show you who's God. Christians understand that this Earth is not our home. God is going to show us again who He is when he returns and the whole Earth will be amazed once again. When His children are called home, we will only take one thing from this Earth and that is the bible doctrine that we have understood and applied.

In this second part I am having to call on the Holy Spirit to help me recall what scriptures and doctrine I have applied through my life. Without referencing my Bible or study notes, here's part 2 of my list:

Scripture Sketch without the exact verse

  • Malachi 8 - Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed thee. But ye say wherein have the rob thee? In tithes and offering. Ye are cursed with a curse. For ye have robbed thee. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be meat in mine house. And prove me now herewith says the Lord of hosts. If I would not open you the window of your house and pour ye out a blessing that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devour for your sake and ye shall not destroy the fruits of your ground says the lord of hosts.

  • Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus (Paul to the Church Philippi)

  • And my God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond all that we could ask or think according to His riches in Christ Jesus.

  • It is harder for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.

  • For faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  • For without faith it is impossible to please the Lord.

  • And again I say wait on the Lord.

  • My God shall keep me in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee.

  • The heart is deceitful above all things who can know it. (God by way of Jeremiah)

  • I try the reigns daily. (God by way of Jeremiah)

  • I die daily. (Paul)

  • I have finished the race and have fought the good fight. Now awaits for me a crown of life. (Paul)

  • The kingdom suffers violence and the violent take it by force.

  • Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the Earth. (Jesus)

  • Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. (Jesus)

  • There's a time and place for everything. A time to die and a time to kill. A time mourn and a time celebrate. A time for war and time for peace. (Solomon)

  • All things work together for those that love the Lord and who are called according to his purpose. (Paul)

  • You were created for my pleasure. (God)

  • For I am a voice calling out in the wilderness, Repent. (John the Baptist)

  • As far as the east is from the west that how far I have removed your transgressions. (God by way of David, maybe)

  • If my people who are called by name would humble themselves and pray I will return and heal their land. (Jeremiah)

  • Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not get angry, love does not keep a record of wrongs.

  • Love, hope, charity, Out of all these the greatest is love. (Paul)

  • And the fruits of Spirit are love, patience, kindness, joy, hope, temperance, long suffering and self control, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness. Against these things are there is no law. (Paul)

  • The Lord hates these things, a lying tongue, feet that rush to evil, a person who sews discord among friends.

  • I press on toward higher ground. (Paul)

  • A thousand may fall at your side 10000 at your right but it will not come near you.

Stories in Sketch

Cain and Abel -- After the Fall, Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden into the dry world of stone and dirt. Jesus Christ himself covered and clothed them by sacrificing an animal and covering them with its skin. They suffered daily hardship of agriculture and basic survival. They had two sons - Cain and Abel. Cain was a shepherd of flock and Abel was a farmer. Apparently God gave them a routine ceremony of worship and fellowship, because when it came time to come before God they had to present their best production, which was an image of sacrifice. Abel presented God with his first and best produce. God was pleased and blessed Abel. Cain presented less than his best flock of which God did not accept. Cain became so jealous that he murdered his brother Abel. God spoke to Cain and asked him for the whereabouts of his brother. Cain replied, "Am I my brother's keeper?" God said, "Abel's blood cries out to me from the ground." God punished Cain by casting him away from his presence to roam the earth forever. And if anyone tried to murder Cain they would be cursed 70 times 70 or 7 times 70.

Principles

  • Faith is measured by your footsteps. It is acting like it is so, even when it is not so, simply because God said it's so.

  • Try the Spirit by the Spirit.

  • The pastor teacher is the logos. The voice of God.

  • Believers were chosen to have positive volition. We were chosen to choose yes.

  • God is sovereign. His ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts.

This exercise is an effective process to combat depression, as it is a mental exercise to reflect on Gods' word in your heart. Not the junk that is weighing you down. Don't be discouraged by what seems like very little that you know. In the moment you are thinking about what you know, that is the moment you are plugged into the Holy Spirit whom you've given permission to occupy your space to have full expression of who He is; which is the inspiration of God. The Holy Spirit reveals God's word. If at any point in your life you have applied God's word, the Holy Spirit has a record; and if you ask Him to reveal it to you, and you give Him the space to do so, He will.

In this moment you are incapable of sinning. In this moment you are being empowered by God the Holy Spirit for you to act on what you know.
